Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves... ~Rainer Maria Rilke

I’m fond of this quote from Rilke’s “Letters to a Young Poet.” It encourages kindness and compassion to ourselves as we process the sometimes confounding realities of life and ourselves. My therapy practice is rooted in supporting clients in finding the courage and compassion necessary to ask the questions of themselves that are necessary for their continuing journey. In my work before becoming a therapist I learned that I loved journeying with people through the challenges of life so I decided to do it full time. I earned my Masters in Counseling Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies where I was taught that therapy involves not just techniques for better thinking (though that is a part of it) but is centered on building what Carl Rodgers called “a relationship which a person can use for their own personal growth.” When I’m not working I like to read, go out for a run or bike ride, enjoy the City, spend time in nature, and cook.
