Are you a part of a community, in a relationship, a family, or a line of work that used to feel supportive but now feels costly? Do you feel like your performing, always "on," on guard, or run down as a result? Do you feel unable to change because the stakes are so high? As a therapist I understand and walk the complicated terrain of change with my clients. I work with all types of people. Many are men, gay men, and LGBTQ+ people seeking support around identity, relationships, family, or religious environments; couples entering a new season or wanting to improve trust and communication; and people navigating changes in career, family, or midlife.
Approach
I've walked through change myself. I know the stakes are high and that the right support can make all the difference. My practice is grounded in psychological and clinical insight utilizing cognitive (the mind) and somatic (the body) lenses for shifting our relationship to thoughts, emotions, and senses. Though I work with all types of people many of my clients are men or gay men navigating changes in relationships and how they find belonging. Some are desiring to process religious trauma or limiting aspects of their religious or spiritual background with someone who can understand these environments. Some find spiritual perspective enhances therapy.
Services
Much of therapy is a process of discerning what of the past to let go of and what to reappropriate in the present moment in a new way. My approach is warm, present, and active. My clients experience me as not just a passive listener but a real person in the room. I like to bring a sense of humor when that is appropriate and helpful too. I offer video and in person sessions to individuals and couples in San Francisco and Online to California residents. I work with all types of people but am specialized in working with LGBTQ+ people, Men, and those navigating religious/spiritual communities, insitutions, or environments.
