Help for moving from alienation to integration and connection in the complex terrain where identity, community, family, and healing intersect.
You must learn one thing, the world was made to be free in. -David Whyte
Welcome
Are you a part of a community, in a relationship, family, or in a line of work that used to feel supportive but now feels costly? Are you performing, always "on" or on guard, and run down as a result? Are you asking yourself where do I go from here but feel stuck because the stakes are so high? As a former minister turned psychotherapist I understand the complicated terrain of change involving LGBTQ+ identity, family, belonging, faith, and career. I know the stakes are high and that guidance is important. For my clients I bring clinical insight informed by real lived experience as we together seek your unique answers, path forward, and healing.
Approach
I work with LGBTQ+ people navigating relationships, family, or significant faith or cultural backgrounds. Men navigating family, partner relationships, and career change. Couples entering a new chapter and Cult Survivors. Some of my clients desire to incorporate spiritual perspective in their psychotherapy. Some are desiring to process damaging or limiting aspects of their religious or spiritual background.
Services
Much of therapy is a process of discerning what of the past to let go of and what to reappropriate in the present moment in a new way. My approach is warm, present, and active. My clients experience me as not just a passive listener but a real person in the room. I like to bring a sense of humor when that is appropriate and helpful too. I offer video and in person sessions to individuals, couples, and teens in San Francisco to California residents.
